Not Idle, Angry and Dissapointed

It has been a very very sorrow week after Christmas. Everyone knows the terrible things that was happenning during and after the tsunami. The news feed us every other day. If you look into the internet, practically everybody is covering the disaster. Other world events just trickle through. Now even, we started to see videos that were taped during the disaster. To see those scenes are very sad and I could only wish that everyone that were there are now safe and countinue life even though the memories of lost loved ones hurts.

Another part of the news is where you could see which country responses faster that others. Sad to say, the most powerful country, the riches country and the developed country inches their way to help. Another side shows how two conflicting parties unite to help in. The Tamil Tigers appear from hiding and help together with the government and the local to lighten the rescue efforts. Well done Sri Lanka.

I prefer not to involve religion in my blog but I have to blow this out. Don't call me an EXTREMIST Muslim. Don't call me a MILITANT Muslim. Don't even call me a MODERATE Muslim. PLEASE DON'T LABEL ME AS "SOMETHING-SOMETHING" MUSLIM. Just see me as a Muslim.

The religion of Islam is really at it's lowest ebb at this present time. The contribution of the Muslim community is very slow and very invisible especially in this tsunami disaster. Where are the country Muslim community? Other religious group have bring forward immediate assistance to the cause and for the Muslim community at last count is that we will be presenting about $500,000. This is from the collection of funds during this past week or so. That's OK but could we as a Muslim as a whole contribute more? We need the publicity and need to be the up-front community in this event. No matter which country we help, no matter which religion or faith the people are, we have to be visibily there. I've seen the Red Cross every where but where are the Red Cresent?

Then there is this point in my Muslim community that has angered me. In the last Sunday New Paper, a front page report of a person who with his wife and 5 children lived in their flats without electricity and water because he is the sole bread winner and was currently unemployed. No one come to relieve his predicament. Guess who come by and offer a basic help in terms of money to the family????? An non-Muslim group presented him a breather of $850. Can't any Muslim group cough out that amount? What happens to the annual collection during the fasting months that amounted to millions.?? Are the group so concerned about not getting their money back?? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ? ? ? ? ?

I'm ashamed and bitterly dissapointed.
